What equipment do I need to join a WidgetWatch Mentor meeting?
The webinar platform we use to meet with Widgetarians is Zoom. You will need to download this free software and create an account. If you need helping downloading, installing, or using Zoom, don’t worry. We have tutorials available for members. You will need a webcam, microphone, and the Internet. Most laptops come with a camera and microphone built in. You can also join via tablet or phone.
For screen sharing purposes, we highly recommend having access to Ethernet connections to the Internet. When we stream videos to your child, and they are relying only on WiFi, the video can sometimes lag.
My child has a Chromebook. Is it compatible with everything WidgetWatch has to offer?
We can’t guarantee that the connection from a Chromebook will be flawless since they aren’t as fully functioning as a traditional laptop.
We will do our best to make WidgetWatch Mentor Meetings work if you decide to use your Chromebook, but we do recommend using a more traditional laptop that has a built-in webcam and microphone.
How will I, as a parent, know my child has participated if it is a monthly subscription?
Parents will receive a weekly attendance report via email from their child’s WidgetWatch Mentor.
How does the monthly billing work?
You will be automatically billed a month from when you originally purchased the subscription. If you purchased on the fifteenth of May, then you’d be billed on the fifteenth of June.
How to I get access to the private Minecraft server, Widgetaria?
If you are a Gold or Diamond member, you can access step-by-step instructions. You will need to have your own computer and Minecraft account. If you don’t have a Minecraft account, you can get one here.
I just upgraded my membership plan. Why can’t I see it in View Subscriptions?
Try logging out and logging back in again. Your account and our website sync every time you log in, so if you bought the membership on one tab and were logged into your account on another tab, then they won’t have synced. When you log back in, you account will be updated to reflect your new membership. **If you are an Iron member, you won’t see any subscriptions in this section since the Iron membership is free.
I signed up for WidgetWatch using my email, instead of my child’s. Can I change it?
If you change your login email to your child’s it will overwrite your email in our system. This means that your child will receive all of our emails, not just ones specific to WidgetWatch. Your email will be erased from our system and we won’t be able to contact you.
Can I get a refund?
We do not offer refunds at this time.
